46 States!

The web sites registrations show we will have guests from 46 states at GeoWoodstock. Thanks to everyone who registered. Even if you missed registration, we hope you can join us. Gas prices are down. There's going to be so much to do. Hopefully, we can fill in those other four states on the maps at the event.

Local Cachers Have Been Busy

Cachers in the ten-counties in and around GeoWoodstock IX have been busy trying to make certain there are plenty of caches for everyone's caching tastes. Since April 1st almost 600 new caches have been placed leaving almost 5,000 active caches in the area. We're fairly certain the local hiders will have 5,000 caches in place by the event. There will be something for everyone.

Last Days to Register

Time is truly running out to register. Registration at the web site ends on June 1st. It's the holiday weekend. If you haven't done so, put your feet up, go to the GeoWoodstock IX web site, and add your name to the list. I understand procrastination. I am great at it, but now is your last chance to sign-up. You can still attend if you don't register and everyone is always welcome, but the volunteers at the event won't be able to get you a cool GWS name badge, and you may miss out on all the great GWS items if you don't register and make your selection now. Your registration will help the wonderful volunteer team prepare and plan for the event. Will attends have increased over 40% from 2010 so plan to attend the largest GeoWoodstock to date.

If you are going to be in the area early, there are a number of events which promise to be fun starting the week before GeoWoodstock and (for now) ending Saturday evening. If you haven't checked out these event pages, take a look. The smaller venues make it much easier to say hello and make new friends. These are the current events which have been published:

Time's Getting Short

Today marks the first deadline for registration to GeoWoodstock IX. After today, registration prices increase. You don't have to register to attend, but most people will want to register. Depending on your registration level, registration gives you many benefits including:

access to the official GeoWoodstock IX website, event information, and the forums.

a GeoWoodstock IX name tag.

a chance to share a meal with your fellow geocachers.

access to an on-line store to order all the great GWS IX merchandise.

a GWS IX GeoCoin (the only way to get one is through registration packages).

Even better, if you register before the end of today, you can save five dollars of the cost to register. What can $5 buy? Hmmmmm... how about:

enough gas to find the 100 caches nearest GeoWoodstock IX.

Don't fret if you read this at your workplace on Monday. Everyone can still register on the official website through June 1st, but you will need to find gas money for those nearest 100 caches. ;-)

Will attends on the Geocaching.com website still remain strong. We now have over 2,000 geocaching accounts with posted will attends. If you haven't made a decision yet about attending, we hope you decide to come and play in our woods at the largest GeoWoodstock to date.

99 Days 'Til GeoWoodstock IX

There's 99 days left. Have you posted your will attend? Are making plans for your journey? With 99 days remaining, we are at 1890 will attends. As we hit the three month point, some pre (and post) events will start to be published so keep an eye open for more opportunities to say hello to the great cachers who will be playing in our woods.

Will Attends Update

GeoWoodstock IX recently passed previous GeoWoodstocks for the most will attends promising an exciting event at the Warren County Fairgrounds with opportunities to meet geocachers from around the world. Congratulations to cacher elmh for being the 1517th cacher to log a will attend. Since the first of the year the rate of new will attends has about doubled.

The GeoWoodstock IX Committee is excited over the prospect of filling the Kinzua area with cachers for this exciting event. The official website should be active soon for registration.

With 295 days to go, we have passed 1,000 will attends or about 2/3 of the will attends for GeoWoodstock VIII. We're near 3,000 in planned attendance with this level of will attends. Thanks to everyone who has posted, we're off to a good start for continuing the growth of Geocaching's Premier Event.
